Three top collabs: Kenzo, Tom's, Bottletop
I normally steer clear of Disney collaborations but Kenzo x Jungle Book has my finger twitching over click-to-buy. Kenzo creative directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim eschew the tired formula of banging a Disney icon on a t-shirt, instead diving into the studio’s archives to discover original sketches and unseen footage from the 1967 animation and merging them with archival Kenzo florals to create the most flavoursome It doesn’t hurt that the catwalk’s yen for Hawaiian prints is in full bloom but the collab’s lush printed shirt dresses, cropped jackets, sweatshirt and silk dresses and the twist on the Kenzo tiger logo sweatshirt featuring Shere Khan would stand quite alone. www.kenzo.com
British sustainable luxury brand Bottletop, whose fans include Gigi Hadid, Jessica Alba, Anna Wintour and Livia Firth, launches an first Amazon bag collection. The clutches and backpacks, have been designed by Vincent Du Sartel, master of leather and former Creative Director of Loewe before JW Anderson took over, and hand-crafted by artisans at the Bottletop atelier in Brazil, using up-cycled aluminium ring pulls and Zero Deforestation, Rainforest Alliance-certified leather. From £95 for a clutch. Available at Selfridges and online at www.selfridges.com until June 2016.
TOMS partners international ocean campaign group Oceana to help support its advocacy work to protect sea turtles and other marine life. The collab aims to raise awareness of the ecological importance of turtles - the essential role they play in maintaining the oceanic food web - as well as Oceana’s efforts on their behalf. Men, women and kids shoes feature sea beautiful turtle and tie dye-inspired designs. With the sale of any item from the collection, £5 will be donated towards Oceana’s efforts in addition to TOMS' original One for One promise – a pair of shoes to a child in need with every pair of shoes sold. www.toms.co.uk
