The March Edit 2018

I once thought scented candles were only for winter. More fool, I. And the brand set to bolster my claim is Prosody, the UK’s first and only truly luxury organic and 100% natural perfume brand. Eco-credentials are strong with Prosody, which believes that sustainability and ethics should be a core tenet of all cultivation and that products for personal use should be as clean as possible. The wax in the candles is a blend of beeswax and plant based wax, certified organic by the British Soil Association. And what a winsome way with scents. We're shouting for Apricot Ardour and Rhapsodic Rose, £75,  this spring. Just launched at Fortnum & Mason. https://prosodylondon.com

Patria.jpg

Sustainable menswear remains, for now, thinner on the ground than womenswear. Latest launch is Patria, men’s luxury with a determinedly British take. Founded by veterans, every piece is 100% British made; 10 per cent of profits go to the armed forces charities. The aesthetic is sturdy, classic, made to last; some items, including cashmere jumpers, wool hats and shoes, are made to order to cut down on surplus stock. Patria’s logo is an Airedale called Jack, who rescued a battalion of the Sherwood Foresters by crawling through no-man’s land with a call for help attached to his collar, despite a smashed jaw and shattered forepaw. He died of his wounds, poor chap. Glad he’s receiving a tribute. www.PatriaGB.com

Phine.jpg

Super chic Swedish jewellery brand Phine has always specialised in powerful, empowering pieces. So the latest collaboration seems particularly fitting. For each sale from the Feminist collection, founder Elina Faurschou be donating £10 to The Girls’ Network, an organisation which inspires and empowers girls from the least advantaged communities by connecting them with a mentor and network for professional female role models.  And the bling? Spiked, cog-shaped earrings; dangling cubes of gold-plated sterling silver; clean and mean. www.phine.london

Super fave ethical footwear company Po Zu is adding to its animal-friendly roster by launching a pioneering new vegan-friendly line, made in Sri Lanka from organic cotton and fair trade rubber. The sneaks add to Po Zu’s already impressive work with plant fibres, from Pinatex, made from pineapple leaf fibres, to coir, a mix of coconut husk and natural latex, and sustainably grown cork.
